Debt Help-Don't Count On It

Debt relief that never came

Like you, I started my journey searching for debt help and what I got was more than I bargained for and some.

My nightmare started when my husband who had been seeking a PhD and piling debt in the process suddenly filed for divorce, the judge divided the debt 40/60 of the debt during the divorce hearing. My share was $46,000 to be exact, I guess he had played his game right. He used our house to get loans, credit cards, and he won big time because he is a corporate executive and I am still a store manager.

Suddenly I had huge debt and my life was upside down. My living from paycheck to paycheck lifestyle had just begun so, I embarked on the search for debt help but what I got was more than help, I was lied to big time.

I called several companies and they all seemed pleasant and willing to help. At first, I thought the help was Godsend. I was conscious at first so I asked each company to send me information about their different plans.

This is what I got:

1. Debt Relief solution
2. Debt settlement
3. Debt consolidation
4. Bankruptcy

Today I wish I had taken bankruptcy because the others ARE A NIGHTMARE because the truth IS NEVER included in the equation.

I did not figure out what Debt Relief Solution was about but I chose Debt Settlement, which turned out to be a big mistake.

The letter I received from the company that was offering Debt Settlement read in part
“ …we will contact all your debtors and negotiate a settlement of up to 60% and you will have the debt paid off in less than 18 months… we are the best in the industry…we have enclosed testimonials for your reference… nightmare number 2.

I thought my divorce was painful but the debt relief surpassed it by a mile what I expected from the debt help people maybe never came that is why I seldom trust anyone any more. The debt relief/debt settlement was bogus… (Read the next post for more of my story)

P /s negotiate with your credit card company or hire a lawyer…Remember this!
